Bukit Jugra reminiscence

I Curik this pic! the real one is soo good that there nothing left before I could take pics!

Ooof.. what a tiring day! Today I went to Bukit Jugra for lunch with a bunch of oldies. It been over 15yrs since I last went there for food!!. The journey there took about an hour drive or so from Klang. Boy~ how the road system and scenery have changed! The river that overlook the restaurant have now become kecikus drain *I remember there used to be hundreds of mud skipper and now it gone!!, eeh wait could it be low tide?? *You need to book the restaurant 3 days in advance before coming.

This restaurant is famous for their “Beggar’s Chicken” a traditional delicacy spiced with herb then wrapped with papers and finally covered with yellow clay. It is then baked within piles of fiery charcoal ember and ashes for overnight to develop a flavourful, earthy taste. Talk about being authentic~ The cooking area used to be a huge clay igloo *previously it’s a charcoal factory* used to dry swamp wood for charcoal but now been replaced with a brick house specially to cook the beggar’s chicken. Though the charcoal factory is no longer there but the restaurant continues to serves this traditional delicacy to enthusiastic clientele.

Tonight is not too bad night either.. attended an old friend wedding.. congrats Jen Sern! Seated down among old childhood friends with their wives and kids.. really reminded me that I’m old, sad, lonely and SINGLE!! Haiz… more booze please!
